You gotta know when to hold 'em...

Howdy! It's time for a new and very fun challenge at The Male Room. This time you are supposed to include an unexpected item.
When I was crafting the other day my son came into the room asking me to play cards with him and placed a stack of playing cards in front of me. "Ok", I thought, "Bye, bye playing cards" and then I snagged the aces away. (Luckily we have several stacks of cards so I could play cards with my son later that day.)

Another unexpected thing about this card is that I used that folded and stitched news paper border that I have been hoarding for maybe 10 years. It's so old that I have lost the packaging and have no idea who made it. Could it be K & Company or maybe Making memories?

Anyway; I distressed the edges of the playing cards and the newspaper border using distress inks and placed them on a background panel.

The background panel is made using a equally old woodgrain stamp wich I distressed using several brown distress inks on.

To finish the card I attatched a Tim Holtz metal embellishment using some twine in a messy bow and a couple of metal plates with stars cut in them. I also scattered some gold sequins on top. No poker table without gold.

I hope you are playing along with us. Dig in your stash to find things that wouldn't normally go or go on a scavenge hunt in your house; a spoon, a coin, a couple of nails... Glue them all down.
