Blue christmas
Not a blue christmas as in sad christmas, but blue christmas as in a new challenge for The Male Room challenge. We are using the color blue (it doesn't have to be christmas though...).
For this card I went nuts in my collection of wintery hero arts stamps. For my background I used the wonderful "graphic snowflake bold prints" background stamp. I stamped using a light blue distress oxcide ink and clear embossed it to make a subtle texture on the card. I also gold embossed the sentiment directly on the background using a sentiment from the "color layering trimmings" stamp set.
And while I was at it I stamped the branches, baubles and pine cones also from the "color layering trimmings" stamp set by Hero Arts. For the branches and baubles I used blue oxcide inks in different colors. i also mixed in some cracked pistachio ink as the background color on the branches to create a hint of green while keeping blue as the main color. I stamped the pine cones using brown oxcide inks. I also gold embossed the bauble toppings.
To create a bit of Rihanna feeling (this IS a card for a guy, right... ;-) ) I stamped a squirrel to swing on one of the baubles. The squirrel is from the "Bundle up" stamp set, also from Hero Arts. I colored it using my copic markers and tried a little no line-coloring to keep up with the no line-feeling of the rest of the card.
I matted the background on a piece of dark blue cardstock to pick up the color from the baubles and arranged my stamped images on it. I used white twine as strings from the baubles to the branches.
To finish the card I glued the panel on a white card base.
I hope you will make something blue the next couple of weeks. I can't wait to see what you create.
I am entering this card in the following challenges:
* A blog named Hero - Winter
